Hark! in the dusk (D. H. Lawrence)
Hark! in the dusk
voices, gurgling like water
wreathe strong weeds round the knees
as the darkness
lifts us off our feet.
As the current thrusts warm through the loins,
so the little one
wildly floats, swirls,
and the flood strikes the belly,
and we are gone.
